Chronic Venous Insufficiency
What is chronic venous insufficiency?
Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) occurs when the valves in your leg veins don’t function properly. Healthy veins efficiently route blood back to the heart. With venous insufficiency, blood may flow in multiple directions, even backwards, allowing blood to pool in the legs.
Left untreated, CVI can begin to reduce your quality of life and eventually cause lasting damage to your veins and valves. CVI can also put you at risk for developing other related conditions.
